A cardiac surgeon and university professor. In 1977 he became the head of the Institute of Cardiology and Clinic of Cardiac Surgery of the Medical University of Lodz. In 1969 he performed the first in Poland transplantation of a human heart. He was awarded with the Award of Lodz (1962) and of Poznan (1963), the Minister of Health and Social Welfare Award (1974), the PAN First Class Award (1975), the Commander's Cross and Officer's Cross.
